Urban Farming Program

The Urban Farming Program enables God’s Gang to teach community residents heritage (organic) farming techniques. The continuation and expansion of the group's efforts at the satellite locations will provide a rural link for youth, that was last experienced by the past baby boomer generation whose access to summer trips to southern farming communities epitomized, self sufficiency, connection of past generations, and provide space for community members to grow their own food. Together, these activities promote self-sufficiency and self-reliance while also developing a safety net to meet the food security needs of God’s Gang community.

Through a planned Community Service Urban Agricultural Center, we will have a farm that teaches and produces Urban Gardening, a food pantry that will distribute foods to those who have been identified in need and a Market that will team urban farmers with community residents to provide food that produced, distributed and consumed by the community. Organic food farming, nutritional counseling, and a bazaar will aid the growth of God’s Gang Youth Outreach.

MISSION

Our mission is to increase the awareness of individuals, organizations, schools, churches, and the general public about the importance of urban agriculture, the nutrition value of organically-raised vegetables and the history and cultural heritage of African American farming.
